This morning, we saw the breaking news which is covered on most newspapers that the Google NEXUS ONE Android 2.1 handset will be available for mail order in 4 countries. Other than USA, the 3 other countries are United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong, China.
In USA, the consumers can purchase the phone independently or at a subsidized rate with T-mobile. The rest of the 3 countries will have to purchase and pay duties/taxes before they can get their hands on the Nexus One.
The question that most people will have in mind is, why didn’t the local telecom operators talk to Google and bring in the phones and subsidised it with a 24 months contract. In fact, the Nexus One is just like any HTC Android phones just that it has a better specifications.
We have spoken to the telecom operator in Singapore and this is their response “We don’t have much to share at this moment, except that we are keen to explore with Google to bring in the Nexus One”.
Looks like the operators are caught by surprise the interest in Nexus One while they are still busy handling the high volume of calls for the Apple iPhone 3GS.
I think there is a high possibility that it will be sold exclusively with a 24 mths contract just like HTC Dream in the past. If you can’t wait, just head over to google.com/phone and order it online.
* Do drop us a line if you have Nexus One powered up with either Singtel/Starhub/M1 SIM card.
This is a terrific post
A blog with news really exciting, congratulations to the author!
Blogs RSS feed doesn’t work in my browser (google chrome) how can I repair it?
use another browser
As long as your service provider is reliable then broadband should be a joy to use but if they are a bunch of hacks, then it will be expensive and not deliver on any of the promises made when you signed on for the service.
Just noticed the Motorola Milestone available exclusive to Starhub. Should I wait for the Desire or get the Milestone now? Does anyone know any dates regarding HTC Desire and Legend coming to Singapore?
depending on your operator of choice. If you are switching to Starhub, you get S$100 off. It is a pretty good phone less the weak flash light for its 5 mega pixel camera. Stay tuned to our review soon at http://www.ocworkbench.com
N1 will never be avai, better change focus to HTC Desire.

Sometimes it is more worthwhile to have videos in the detail review than in the web news section of the site. we are not a blog .

Hey, I’m living in Indonesia but coming over to Singapore in a couple weeks to get my Kitas renewed. I was just wondering something, you can buy a Nexus One unlocked.. Does this mean that I could take it back to Indonesia with me and use it here? Or will it not work.. I’m not very tech savvy when it comes to phones since I’m still using one with a black and white screen.
I was also wondering if they even sell them in Singapore at all yet.
Thanks guys,
Sam.
It is not sold at the telecom operators or shops. It is sold via mail order. If you want to buy, you can get your friends in Singapore to buy it for you and mail it over from US to Singapore , Singapore to Indonesia.
As it is an unlocked phone, it can be used with any SIM card from Indonesia so long it is GSM/EDGE/WCDMA.
