At Computex, AMD showcased a 32 cores 64 threads Threadripper. Intel decided to showcase a running demo with it’s 28 core processor. We did asked our AMD rep whether there are any actual running demos, the answer was negative.
Today, a leak from a Chinese site reveal that they had it running, benchmarked and overclocked too. I supposed these leaks are from the usual manufacturers.
Anyway, according to the reports, the processor is a 2nd generation ThreadRipper 2900X and is clocked at 3 GHz with all core max at 3.4 GHz. Precision boost can go up to 4 GHz. It maintains a TDP of 250W and the processor will have 3MB of L1 cache, 16MB of L2 cache and 64MB of L3 cache.
At 250W TDP, there was still overclocking headroom with the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X. It was overclock to 4.12 GHz at 1.38v with a Corsair H150i Pro water. Cinebench scored 6109 ~6399 points, way higher than Intel’s competing chip that yielded a score of 5912 points with stock configured settings.
