Our test setup consists of the MSI B350I PRO AC motherboard. This motherboard comes with 2 DDR4 DIMM slots supporting up to DDR4-4000. It also has an 802.11ac WIFI and Bluetooth. It has 1 PCIe 3.0 x 16 slot for external graphics cards. Underneath the motherboard is a M.2 slot.
There are also 2 USB 3.1 Type A, 4 USB 3 (Gen 1) and 4 USB 2.0 ports. The LAN is powered by Realtek 8111H GbE chipset. Audio is a Realtek ALC887 chip.
Memory modules used in the setup is a pair of G Skill F4-3200C14D-16GFX modules. The XMP profile 2 sets the ram modules to run at DDR4-3200 C14-14-14-1T (as shown in the picture below).
In CPU-Z benchmark, we can see that the performance of the processor is almost on par with a Core i7-4790K running at 4GHz.
Before we did any real tests, we did an overclock test and 4 GHz is easily achievable. In fact, the GPU clk was also overclocked to 1550 MHz and the system still runs steadily without fail.
The overclocking Is done within the BIOS by adjusting the CPU clock multiplier to 40X. The GPU Clock is increased to 1550 MHz. Voltage level was adjusted 1.25V.
The benchmark results shows that the performance is almost on par with a Core i7-7700K.
