Samsung smartphone users have reported an issue where green lines appear on the screen after updating their device’s firmware. A number of individuals have shared their experience with this issue on Facebook, with some stating that they were able to have their screen replaced under warranty. However, others have expressed frustration, as despite their phones being under warranty, they were still required to pay labor fees to have the issue resolved. Additionally, those whose phones were out of warranty were required to pay a significant fee for the repair of their screen.
A FB user Sewingwith went down to Plaza Singapura Samsung Care Centre and saw another user having the same issue. Despite the phone is still under warranty, he will still need to labour fees. As for himself, since his set is out of warranty, he will have to fork out SGD 398 for the repair of the screen.
It is unclear whether this issue is exclusive to the Samsung Note 20 and S20 series or if it affects other Samsung devices as well. Reports of this problem have surfaced on the Samsung Community Forum as early as 2021, suggesting that it is a global issue.
If you are experiencing green lines on your Samsung smartphone after updating its firmware, there are several steps you can take to try to resolve the issue. First, check for any available software updates by going to “Settings,” then “Software update,” and selecting “Download and install.” If this does not resolve the issue, try rebooting your phone in SAFE mode to see if it is a software issue. If the lines disappear, you can reflash the firmware and do a reset of the phone. Choose “Factory data reset,” and follow the instructions on the screen. Keep in mind that this will erase all of your data and settings, so be sure to back up any important files before proceeding.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it is possible that it is a hardware issue, in which case you should take your phone to an authorized Samsung service center to have it checked and repaired. They may need to replace the screen or other components to resolve the issue.
