In celebration of National Day of Singapore, Huawei is selling it’s Y6 Pro at a huge discount at S$54. It is unsure about the quantity available but it is definitely a welcomed move by the seniors. The two day event has attracted many elders queueing up at Huawei stores around the island and checking out the phone.
The smartphone will work with all local telco networks but there might be some issues with the 4th telco TPG.

As TPG works on Bands 8 or 40 depending on where you are. Chances are that you might not be able to use it as a “hotspot”. The reason why I say hotspot is becasue TPG VoLTE voice calls won’t work as the phone doesn’t support VoLTE for TPG.
If you are thinking of using the TPG data roaming in Malaysia, well, you might be in luck as it suppots Band 20. Again, in Malaysia YES4G network supports Bands 20, 38 and 40. You are out of luck if the area you are going lack band 20 support.
If you are a Singtel, M1 or Starhub user, you don’t have to worry as the bands used are all covered including the commonly used bands 3, 7 and 8 (Singtel). 3G will still work for making your voice calls.
So, what is the next best phone that you can consider? How about the Redmi Go at around S$89. It supports all these bands and with a trick, you can enable VoLTE. This phone may not have the better camera or amount of RAM, it will work for your free TPG SIM if you are the cheapo (you know what i mean).
