SINGTEL
The trend is changing as more and more users are buying cheaper smartphones with prepaid card. For those who require a monthly bill and bundled data, the M1 mySIM is definitely a good choice. SingTel sees that as a challenge and thus introduce their own ala carte no contract SIM card only plan.
Singtel’s plan is slightly different from M1’s. You can start building up your own plan from S$20. For S$20, it comes with 3GB of local 4G data and 2GB of Singtel WIFI.
In addition, you could add S$5 for 1200SMS, $10 for 2400SMS or S$15 for unlimited SMS. Serioulsy do you still use SMS?
As for talktime, you can choose to top up S$5 for 200 minutes of outgoing calls, S$10 for 800 minutes and S$15 for unlimited. This sounds pretty cool. In fact bundle plans for unlimited calls won’t be as cheap as S$20 + S$15 or S$35 per mth + it comes with 3GB of data which is quite sufficient for most people.
If bundled data of 3GB is not enough, you can add on S$5 per GB to a maximum of S$150 for 30GB of 4G data.
If we were to compare it to the cheapest M1 plan. Singtel users pay S$5 for 200 minutes of outgoing calls, S$5 for 1200 SMS. This bundle is also S$30 just that M1 users get 300 minutes outgoing call and 1000 SMS. Of course if you are one who seldom make outgoing calls, subscribing to a call back service , the winning solution for the Singtel plan.
What about the most expensive plan ? M1 charges S$125 for 13GB data, unlimited calls and SMS. SingTel’s version would be S$20 (3GB data) + S$15 (unlimited SMS) + S$15 (unlimited calls) + S$50 (10GB data) = S$100. That is S$25 savings.
This reduction of price is very apparent as SIM only plans were previously quite expensive. With competition, the price has come down substantially. See old price structure below :
So, will Starhub join in the competition ? If you intend to subscribe which plan will you choose ?
