M1 announces Asia’s first network-based mobile malware detection solution M1 Mobile Guard provides always-on, network-level malware detection and alerts
SINGAPORE, 25 September 2017 – The smartphone has become an essential part of users’ lives, used to make financial transactions, and a store for personal and professional information.
This growth has also resulted in increased cyber threats, with smartphone infections growing 400 percent in 2016[1].
To help customers protect themselves from such threats, M1 Limited (M1) launched Asia’s first network-based mobile malware detection solution – M1 Mobile Guard.
Mobile Guard, powered by Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Security network-based anti-malware solution, works by checking devices accessing M1’s mobile network for signs that it may be infected by malware. This enables Mobile Guard to offer convenient always-on protection.
Once Mobile Guard determines that a customer’s device has been compromised, it will trigger an SMS and e-mail alert to the customer’s registered mobile number and e-mail address. The customer can then utilise the bundled anti-malware solution to rectify it.

Customers can sign up to protect their loved ones with Mobile Guard for S$2 a month starting 26 September 2017 through the My M1 app, calling M1’s hotline 1627, and at any M1 Shop outlet islandwide. We are working with our handset partners to bundle Mobile Guard with selected handsets.
